With a poverty rate of 23.8 percent, the people most exposed to an automated decision here are the least able to absorb it being wrong, which raises the bar on how a refusal is explained and how it can be challenged. At roughly 34 percent of employment, education/health services is concentrated enough that one sector sets the local norm for AI practice, which is useful when it is done well and hard to escape when it is not.","indexable":true,"status":"live","quality_score":88,"last_updated":"2026-11-04T11:00:24+00:00","parent":null,"statistics":{"values":{"population":129267,"median_household_income":52267,"unemployment_rate":5.1,"poverty_rate":23.8,"median_home_value":271900,"dominant_industry":"Education/Health Services","dominant_industry_pct":34.7,"census_year":2023},"source":{"publisher":"US Census Bureau","dataset":"American Community Survey (ACS5)","year":2023,"county":"Clarke County","county_url":"https://ai-coalition.net/ai-ethics/counties/georgia/clarke-county"}},"resources":[{"kind":"case_study","name":"A 20 million dollar NSF award to build a national AI supercomputer","url":"https://ai.gatech.edu/","source_url":"https://ai.gatech.edu/","verified_at":"2026-11-04T00:02:36+00:00"},{"kind":"case_study","name":"Georgia HB 203, hazardous conditions and health assessment","url":"https://www.ncsl.org/technology-and-communication/artificial-intelligence-2023-legislation","source_url":"https://www.ncsl.org/technology-and-communication/artificial-intelligence-2023-legislation","verified_at":"2026-11-04T00:02:36+00:00"},{"kind":"case_study","name":"AI treated as an interdisciplinary field by design","url":"https://ai.uga.edu/","source_url":"https://ai.uga.edu/","verified_at":"2026-11-04T00:02:41+00:00"},{"kind":"event","name":"The Machine Learning Center and its published tools","url":"https://ai.gatech.edu/","source_url":"https://ai.gatech.edu/","verified_at":"2026-11-04T00:02:36+00:00"},{"kind":"event","name":"AI Research Day 2026 and the graduating cohort","url":"https://ai.uga.edu/","source_url":"https://ai.uga.edu/","verified_at":"2026-11-04T00:02:41+00:00"},{"kind":"government","name":"Georgia SB 444 \u2014 AI restrictions in health insurance","url":"https://stackcyber.com/posts/ai-state-laws","source_url":"https://stackcyber.com/posts/ai-state-laws","verified_at":"2026-11-04T00:02:36+00:00"},{"kind":"government","name":"Georgia SB 540 \u2014 chatbot safety","url":"https://stackcyber.com/posts/ai-state-laws","source_url":"https://stackcyber.com/posts/ai-state-laws","verified_at":"2026-11-04T00:02:36+00:00"},{"kind":"organization","name":"Georgia Tech AI, more than 1,000 people and 107.9 million dollars","url":"https://ai.gatech.edu/","source_url":"https://ai.gatech.edu/","verified_at":"2026-11-04T00:02:36+00:00"},{"kind":"organization","name":"Institute for Artificial Intelligence, University of Georgia","url":"https://ai.uga.edu/","source_url":"https://ai.uga.edu/","verified_at":"2026-11-04T00:02:41+00:00"},{"kind":"procurement","name":"Georgia HB 18, appropriations for the Georgia Artificial Intelligence Manufacturing Project","url":"https://www.ncsl.org/technology-and-communication/artificial-intelligence-2023-legislation","source_url":"https://www.ncsl.org/technology-and-communication/artificial-intelligence-2023-legislation","verified_at":"2026-11-04T00:02:36+00:00"},{"kind":"training","name":"AI degrees and certificates, including online routes","url":"https://ai.gatech.edu/","source_url":"https://ai.gatech.edu/","verified_at":"2026-11-04T00:02:36+00:00"},{"kind":"training","name":"Georgia HR 381, honouring an AI education programme at Seckinger High School","url":"https://www.ncsl.org/technology-and-communication/artificial-intelligence-2023-legislation","source_url":"https://www.ncsl.org/technology-and-communication/artificial-intelligence-2023-legislation","verified_at":"2026-11-04T00:02:36+00:00"},{"kind":"training","name":"PhD and MS in artificial intelligence, and a BA in cognitive science","url":"https://ai.uga.edu/","source_url":"https://ai.uga.edu/","verified_at":"2026-11-04T00:02:41+00:00"}],"posts":[],"organisation":{"name":"AI Coalition Network","url":"https://ai-coalition.net"}}
